Richard Florczak, Hollywood's premier private chef is the author of the award-winning "The Private Chef." It was recently announced that "The Private Chef" by Richard Florczak won the Bronze prize (in the cookbook category) at the annual Gold Ink Awards, a worldwide printing competition that attracted over 1500 entries. Awards are to be presented in Chicago on Oct. 15, 2006. If you are into great cooking, you must visit www.theprivatechef.com to view this award-winning book and treat yourself and your family to some exceptional recipes as well as a trend-setting new book!

On Friday, Sept. 1/06 at 10:00 am EST, Richard will be appearing on the nationally televised show, "Now You're Cooking" on QVC selling his book, "The Private Chef."

What follows is a detailed description by Richard Florczak of the story behind his award-winning book:

In the middle of 2004 I assembled what I thought was the best team to assist me in producing the first definitive private chef cookbook. Victor Baghossian of Imagemax Photography would be the photographer. I had already seen a number of his cookbooks and liked his work. I told him exactly what I was looking for. I wanted sharp crystal clear images and an image to accompany every recipe. Within minutes of discussing the project with him I knew we saw eye to eye. We agreed on Denise Vivaldo of Food Fanatics as our stylist. She and Robyn Tucker, the set designer, have more than a decade of experience in cookbook photography.

We started shooting at 9:00 am on a Monday morning in July and by 10:00 am not only did we have our first shot, but I watched my cookbook come alive! A crew of nine people worked feverously cooking, styling, set designing and photographing dish after dish. Every shot was created exactly as I had envisioned it. It was truly amazing to watch. After seven long days, the photography was completed.

In the next few months Victor handled the layout and then it was off to find a printer. Enter, Silvio Mattacchione of Silvio Mattacchione and Co. www.silvio-co.com. Silvio has over thirty years experience in the book publishing, book design and print consulting business and has become my mentor. He has literally held my hand through every step of the post photography portion of book publishing. Knowing how meticulous I was regarding the photography, Silvio introduced me to his team which included Albert Tham of A-R Book Builders, Singapore to do the printing. Albert who is in fact a "Master Printer" and graduate of the London College of Printing is a specialist in Graphic Reproduction Technology. The printing and production of the "The Private Chef" was personally overseen in Singapore by Mr. Tham himself. In fact the printing of "The Private Chef" was so important to us that Albert Tham personally calibrated the printing press specifically for our project. Calibrating a press to a specific project is rarely done by modern printers today. However Mr. Tham's dedication to quality made this a necessity. Mr. Tham's expertise ensured that we would obtain the very best color printing possible!

Six weeks later I held the first copy in my hands and thought I was dreaming. It had arrived more beautiful than I had ever imagined. In fact it was so beautiful that it just won the Bronze medal at the international Gold Ink Award for printing.

Now, what do I do with this book? Enter Cathy James Vice President of Entertainment Industry Foundation. Cathy immediately loved the concept of the private chef as a new genre in the cooking/cookbook industry. She asked if she could run with it and off she went. A few short months later and a lot of hard work on her end she informed me that the home shopping network QVC accepted the book as a product to be marketed on their show. Last week I was given an air date. On Friday September 1, at 10:00 am EST, I will be appearing on national television on the QVC network selling my book, "The Private Chef." I have been blessed from start to finish with everyone that has worked on the project. I am very proud of what we have accomplished. Please watch!
